Vienna Anthropology Days 2027

Februar 16-19, 2027 - Vienna, Austria

VANDA is an international conference and festival held biennially in Vienna, bringing together around 300 anthropologists, social and cultural scientists, and interdisciplinary artists.  

VANDA is dedicated to social and cultural anthropology, fostering scholarly innovation, critical reflection, collaborative formats, and creative dialogue across disciplines and artistic practices.
It also offers an ethnographic film programme and a unique social programme alongside the academic sessions.  

VANDA is organised by the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna, in cooperation with the Institute for Social Anthropology at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the Department for Sociology and Anthropology at Central European University, and the Weltmuseum.

Due to a transition in the organizing team, the next edition will take place from 16–19 February 2027. We plan to return to the usual September schedule in 2028. 

The keynote at VANDA 2027 will be delivered by Prof. Miriam Ticktin.

VANDA is hosted by the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna.
