Regarding this event, the University of Vienna, as body governed by public law, is not qualified as taxable person for VAT-purposes according to Austrian tax authorities (non-taxable scientific entity, ‘hoheitliche Forschungsanstalt‘, Sec 2 par 5 Austrian Corporation Tax Act – KStG). Therefore, the registration fees for scientific participants and scientific side events are not subject to VAT in Austria.

Do I need an Invitation Letter?

Traveling from the EU:

If you are an EU citizen, you do not need a visa for Austria. If you have a valid visa in another EU country, you must take the visa and your passport with you on your trip to Austria.

Traveling from outside the EU:

If you are traveling from outside the EU, you may need to obtain a Schengen visa from an Austrian embassy in your home country or if there is no embassy in your country from a local Schengen embassy.
