ISSID Early Career Researcher Award

Dear ISSID Members and Friends, 

Applications are now open for the ISSID Early Career Researcher Award

This award is worth US$2000 (generously sponsored by Elsevier) and is open to students or those who completed their PhD in 2019 or later AND had a first-authored (or sole authored) article published in Personality and Individual Differences during 2024 AND are a current member of ISSID or will join ISSID before receiving the award.

Blazej Szymura ISSID 2025 Conference Travel Award

Dear ISSID Members, 

We are pleased to announce the Blazej Szymura ISSID 2025 Conference Travel Award which is designed to support early career researchers and postgraduate students in the field of personality and individual differences. This award offers up to $1,000 to assist with travel and accommodation expenses for those presenting at the upcoming ISSID conference. Additionally, the conference fee will be waived for award recipients.

  • Dates: July 14-18, 2025
  • Location: University of Vienna, Austria 

Early Career Researchers: Individuals under 40 years of age or within five years of completing their PhD in the area of personality and individual differences. 
  1. Postgraduate Students: If still a student, candidates will be undertaking Masters or PhD level research relevant to the field. 
  2. Financial Need: Applicants who demonstrate that they would not be able to attend the ISSID conference without this financial support. Preference will be given to applicants from outside the USA and UK; however, exceptional cases from these countries will also be considered. 
  3. International Collaboration: Presentations that encourage international collaboration between psychologists, such as cross-cultural studies or other collaborative work, are particularly welcomed. 

  • Cover Letter: Addressed to the Chair of the Selection Panel (Chris Jackson).
  • Statement: A two-page document detailing:
    • Why you believe you are eligible for this award.
    • The topic of your presentation.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): A current CV outlining your academic and research achievements.
  • Letter of Support: From your Head of Department or a professor within your department/school. 


Please submit these materials to the President-Elect of ISSID at c.jackson@unsw.edu.au. Please do NOT submit to the President as requested at the website.

The deadline for the award is 1st April 2025.

Selection results will be announced two weeks after the deadline.
