Travelling to Vienna

Vienna Airport is a large international airport with connections to many destinations within and beyond Europe. From the airport, you can either take the City Airport Train directly to Wien Mitte station, or use ÖBB trains S7 or REX7, which only take a few minutes longer but are a cheaper option. 

Please note that the airport is located outside the city limits, so day tickets from Wiener Linien, Vienna‘s public transport company, are not valid for this journey! 

In addition, Vienna is well connected to many European countries by train; this also includes a network of night trains, the Nightjet. For further information on train fares and booking, please visit the website of the Austrian train company ÖBB or Westbahn.

Travelling within Vienna

Public Transport

Vienna‘s public transport system is excellent. The conference venue is just next to U2 station „Schottentor“ and can also be reached from U3 stations Volkstheater and Herrengasse. If you prefer to travel by tram, please get off the train at station „Schottentor“, which you can reach with lines 1, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 71 and D. You can easily purchase tickets at the ticket machines in Vienna, located at larger stops and stations across Vienna or online. 

The 24 hours or 7 days tickets are economic ways of moving around in Vienna. You can use the WienMobil map to plan your route (also available as app). For more information please visit the website of Wiener Linien.

By bike

Vienna offers a wide range of bicycle paths. 

As most of the sights of Vienna are in the city center and they are close to the venue, it is also recommended to explore the city by foot.

In addition to various bike rental companies, there is the WienMobil Rad. Rental stations are distributed throughout the city. For more information about the city bikes click here.

Electric Carsharing

Car sharing is an essential part of today's smart mobility.

Sharetoo is an innovative e-car sharing concept from Porsche Bank. The aim is to combine sustainable mobility with state-of-the-art technology. With around 200 vehicles in around 30 cities and municipalities, Sharetoo car sharing is one of the largest e-car sharing providers in Austria. Porsche Bank AG is the first car sharing provider to be awarded the eco-label. 

P Parking in Vienna

Almost the entire city of Vienna is a short-stay parking zone (Monday - Friday, 9am - 10pm, excluding public holidays). You need a parking ticket called 'Parkschein' (EUR 1.70 per half hour) to park your vehicle in public parking spaces. You can buy them in paper form or via app ('HANDYPARKEN'). The maximum parking duration is two hours. The parking zones are marked on this map of Vienna.

Tickets for parking (Parkschein) 

Parking tickets called 'Parkschein' (see picture on the left) exist in five colours:

  • Duration of 15 minutes (violett ticket): for free 
  • 30 minutes (red ticket): EUR 1,70
  • 60 minutes (blue ticket): EUR 3,40
  • 90 minutes (green ticket): EUR 5,10
  • 120 minutes (yellow ticket): EUR 6,80

         valid since 01.01.2026

You can purchase parking tickets at these sales outlets:

  • Tobacco shops 
  • Cigarette machines 
  • Filling stations 
  • Post offices 
  • Wiener Linien (Vienna Transport Authority) ticket offices 
  • Wiener Linien ticket machines Motorists’ organizations ARBÖ and ÖAMTC
There are no on-street parking ticket machines in Vienna.

With HANDYPARKEN you can book an electronic parking ticket quickly and easily. Payment is possible regardless of sales outlets and opening hours. 

You can also book a free parking ticket for a maximum parking time of 15 minutes via HANDYPARKEN.

  • Duration of 15 minutes: for free 
  • 30 minutes: EUR 1,70
  • 60 minutes: EUR 3,40 
  • 90 minutes: EUR 5,10 
  • 120 minutes: EUR 6,80

Parking with these tickets is limited to a maximum of 2 hours. If you want to park for longer, you must use one of the parking garages. The closest one is the WIPARK Votivpark-Garage in Universitätsstraße (open 24 hours, EUR 4.30 per hour). The cheapest way to park in Vienna is to use the Park & Ride stations for EUR 4.10 per day (it is recommended to be there at 6am to get a parking space).
